Our Rabbitry is just getting started, raising Silver Fox rabbits for
show, sale and preservation.
Silver Fox rabbits are a
large breed that can reach a weight of 9-11 lbs for senior bucks and 10-12 lbs for senior does.
They are known for their very high meat percentage, dressing out at 65%. The beautiful black
or blue fur has silvering throughout and has the unique feature
of standing straight up when stroked from tail to head. They are often called the "teddy bear" of the
commercial rabbit breeds and make excellent pets for children, because even though they are large,
they are very gentle, easily handleable and love attention.
Silver Fox rabbits are listed as critical by the American
Livestock Breeds Conservancy, as well as being listed
in the Slow
Food USA Ark of Taste, so we look forward to helping with
keeping this breed alive and available.
